Intensive Crash Course
Important DVSA Changes Affecting Intensive Driving Courses & Driving Tests
As of 12 May 2026, DVSA regulations require learner drivers to book and manage their own practical driving test appointments. Driving schools, driving instructors and third parties are no longer permitted to book, change, cancel or manage driving tests on behalf of pupils. It is therefore the sole responsibility of the pupil to secure and manage their driving test booking and ensure they meet all DVSA requirements.
As a result of these changes, Direct Drive Driving School can no longer book driving tests as part of any intensive driving course package. Before making an enquiry for an intensive course, pupils must first pass their Theory Test and independently secure a practical driving test appointment. Once a test has been booked, we recommend contacting us so that we can schedule your intensive course approximately four to six weeks before your test date, subject to instructor availability.
Where possible, we may be able to introduce pupils to another pupil who wishes to postpone their driving test. Any exchange of test appointments must be arranged and completed by the pupils themselves in accordance with current DVSA regulations. Direct Drive Driving School cannot guarantee the availability of an earlier test date and accepts no responsibility for any changes, cancellations or delays relating to driving test appointments.

HOW IT WORKS
If you’re serious about getting your driving licence, then this could be the most cost-effective and quickest way to do so. Once you have passed your theory test, we will then book a driving test on your behalf.
We have an in house test booking service often acquiring the practical driving test up to 50% earlier than if you were to book online where there is now a 6-8 month waiting list.
You will then be allocated a Driving Standard Agency Approved Driving Instructor through DirectDrive™.
The intensive course of lessons will commence a month before the practical test, depending on which package you choose and your previous experience.Interactive demonstrations and feedback will be given throughout the course. You will not be expected by any means to drive continuously all day. You will never have to share the car with another pupil and will receive 1 to 1 private tuition for the duration of the intensive course.Lessons are conducted in and around the driving test centre area. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the test routes and gain more experience by going over any complex roundabouts, junctions and dual carriageways.Listed below is a breakdown of our syllabus which you will be covering. Complete Driving Course Features
Unlike many other driving schools which claim to offer intensive courses in blocks of 10-40 hours, spread out from 2-3 months, DirectDrive™ offer you an intensive course where classes begin at 9:30 and end at 5:30 with an hours break for lunch in between. Our courses are flexible, you can do 3,4 or 5 hours per day if you so choose.
Our instructors are closely monitored and given incentives and bonuses every time a student passes, so they have a lot to lose. You no longer have to travel outside London, book an expensive hotel for a week on your own, spend more money on food and entertainment, or drive in an unknown area, whilst listening to an instructor with an unfamiliar accent, to quickly gain your driving licence. This course may not be to everyone’s taste and as the title says it's intensive.
